Got a cold?

No matter what time of the year, we are all susceptible to getting sick. This is a natural occurrence, but can be exacerbated by factors such as lifestyle and diet. In an ideal world I would advise taking time off when you start to come down with a cold to allow your body to use the energy it has to fight off the cold. As it so happens, the majority of us are busy bodies and either don't want to or can't make the time to rest.

Yin Qiao San

Yin Qiao San

Here's where Chinese Medicine comes in. Herbal formulas can be used to boost your body's ability to more quickly fight off a cold, but only if the right herbs are given for your specific symptoms. Yin Qiao San (Honeysuckle & Forsythia Powder) is a formula used for a specific type of cold, called Wind-Heat. Symptoms of this cold are fever, slight chills, sore throat, headache, nasal congestion, yellow mucus and cough. The tongue may appear to have a red tip, with a thin white or thin yellow coat and the pulse will feel floating and rapid.

If you have these symptoms, Yin Qiao San can seem like a miracle! I've had Wind Heat colds only last 1-2 days with this formula if taken at first signs of symptoms, and in addition to acupuncture treatments. I don't advise taking herbal formulas unless under the direct supervision of a licensed acupuncturist. We can accurately assess your signs and symptoms to ensure it is the most ideal formula for you. This is only 1 patent formula in a sea of possibilities!

So when you feel like you're coming down with a cold, don't hesitate to come in a for an acupuncture treatment and herbal prescription to get you back to normal in no time!
